The Record - Missionfest returns to the downtown core

MissionFest has returned to the downtown core and organizers from the Mission Downtown Business Association couldn’t be more excited.

After a one year off, due to the revitalization project, MissionFest has moved back to its home on First Ave., which will be buzzing with activity and excitement on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and some of the highlights this year include a bouncy castles, obstacle courses, logger show, 4WD show ‘n’ shine, food trucks, vendors, face painting, dancing, martial arts demonstration and live music on every corner.

Most of the businesses downtown are excited and will have their doors open to welcome everyone.

Unfortunately there will not be a Craft Beer Garden this year, as the festival planning was started a little late in order to secure the local breweries.

Organizers say Rotary Sunrise is excited to take on this project for 2020 though, and already has big ideas.

Please note that 1st Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. to accommodate the festival.

This closure will run from Horne Street to Grand Street. Any vehicles left in the events area will be towed.
