The annual MissionFest celebration – set to be held in downtown Mission on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020 – has been cancelled.
Joanna McBride, executive director of the Mission Downtown Business Association, made the announcement in a press release sent to the Mission Record. In it she said the cancellation was in response to the growing risk surrounding the rapid spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

“This was not a decision that was made lightly or easily,” McBride wrote. “MissionFest has become a tradition in our town and we cannot imagine a summer without it.”
Safety was the prime concern.
“The safety and well-being of our volunteers, partners, vendors, performers, sponsors and guests is our top priority. We will continue to follow recommendations from the Federal and Provincial government, as well as local authorities as the situation develops.”
McBride went on to thank the community.
“We hope that you will join us for 2021, as we plan to make it the biggest and the best ever.”
