Mission is losing an iconic business from its downtown core. The Fields store on First Avenue will close its doors for good on June 28. Dean Petruk, president and chief operating officer of Fields released a statement to the media.

It reads:

“On behalf FIELDS, we are sad to announce today that we will be closing our FIELDS’ store in Mission, BC. The building we have operated out of for several decades has recently been sold and we were unable to come up with a reasonable rent for our business going forward.

“Our Mission, BC store will close to public effective June 28, 2019. We are committed to continue to grow our bricks and mortars stores in Canadian towns as well as increase our online presence through our E-Commerce channel to fulfill our purpose to ‘help our customers live a better life for less.’ We are sincerely thankful to all our team members for their dedication and hard work over the past years, and we will help them through the transition. Thank you to all of our customers who have shopped over a few generations. While we regret not being able to operate in Mission, BC effective June 28, 2019, all our other 61 stores will remain open to continue to serve our customers.”
